There were once two little squirrels who lived high up in an old oak tree. On dark nights, the thing they liked to do most, was to watch the moon from their bedroom window. “Is there really a Man in the Moon?” they asked Father Squirrel time after time. So one night he brought his big, brass telescope up to the squirrels’ bedroom. “See for yourself!” smiled Father Squirrel as he pointed the telescope up at the dark night sky. Both little squirrels stood on their tiptoes and took it in turns to look at the moon through the big brass telescope. “Can you see the Man in the moon yet?” joked their Father. All of a sudden, the two little squirrels let go of the telescope and hid under their bed. “There’s a huge monster on the moon with great big staring eyes!” they shouted with fright. Father Squirrel leaned out of the bedroom window and started to laugh. “It’s only Ollie the Owl perched on a branch. He doesn’t look much like the Monster on the Moon to me!”
